Jigar Shah, Director
CEO, Jigar Shah Consulting
Jigar is CEO of Jigar Shah Consulting and a board member of the Carbon War Room.  He is a solar industry leader and visionary, the founder and initial CEO of SunEdison, now North America’s largest solar energy service provider.  In 2004, he developed the innovative financing model called the solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).  Before SunEdison, Jigar was the manager for the U.S. Marketing Group at BP Solar. He was focused on helping identify ways for BP Solar to structure its channels and delivery mechanisms to increase its market share of the growing U.S. solar electricity business. Jigar also served as head of U.S. Commercial Sales at BP Solar, and as an analyst within the Business Development Group. He joined BP Solar in 1999, and prior to that, he worked in several other positions in the renewable energy industry.

 

 

Tom McCalmont, Director

Tom is CEO and co-founder of McCalmont Engineering, an engineering company that designs large-scale solar power plants and related renewable-energy technology. A serial entrepreneur and inventor who holds 13 U.S. patents, Tom has over 30 years of experience developing new businesses that deliver innovative technology solutions, and has a successful track record of creatively applying new technology to solving real-world customer problems. Prior to co-founding McCalmont Engineering, Tom was the CEO and co-founder of Regrid Power, which grew to be one of California’s largest and most respected solar electric integrators, prior to its sale to Real Goods Solar in late 2008.

 

   

 

Christina Ellwood, Advisor
Founder/Principal, Moreland Associates
Christina is the founder and principal of Moreland Associates, a business development and marketing consulting firm specializing in helping technology companies build market traction. With over 20 years experience in the technology industry, she has worked with emerging technology companies offering hardware and software products to enterprise clients and telecommunications carriers.  Prior to Moreland, Christina founded and served as President and CEO of OfficePlease Inc., an intranet software company and ASP and currently serves as the Chairman for the OfficePlease Foundation. Prior to OfficePlease, she was the VP of Marketing for Sentient Networks until their acquisition by Cisco Systems.

 

 

Jean Kovacs, Advisor
Jean has over 25 years experience directing technology companies and a track record of using her strategic business skills and background to deliver exceptional results with growing enterprises. As the president and CEO of Comergent (acquired by Sterling Software, division of AT&T, in 2006), Jean spearheaded overall solutions and services strategy, and also oversaw the company's daily operations including product development, sales, marketing, and operations along with her executive team. Prior to co-founding Comergent, she was co-founder and executive vice president of Qualix Group. Prior to Qualix, Ms. Kovacs held positions in sales, marketing, and support at Frame Technology, Sun Microsystems, and Compugraphic Corporation.

 

 

Darlene McCalmont, Advisor

Darlene is chief operating officer of McCalmont Engineering. As the first woman in California to become a NABCEP-certified Solar PV Installer, she was co-founder and vice president of operations for Regrid Power. With over 30 years of experience managing operations for businesses with complex production processes, she brings extensive experience assimilated from running a fast-track, national solar power installation company.

 

 

Peter Rexelius, Advisor
Peter was the CEO and co-founder of Energy Recommerce Inc., the preferred provider of web-based monitoring solutions for the solar industry.  He took the company through its first round of VC funding and into profitability until it was acquired by National Semiconductor Corp., and subsequently by Power-One RE. After the acquisitions, he headed sales and product marketing for the monitoring business.  He brings over 20 years of building automation and SCADA experience, managing product development initiatives for supervision and control systems, software tools and hardware products. Prior to Energy Recommerce, Peter held executive positions as Chief Technology Officer and Sr. Vice President of R&D at TAC (now Schneider Electric Buildings).  Currently active as an angel investor and advisor to start-ups in the solar energy industry, Peter is also working on a new venture.

 

 

Thomas Varghese, Advisor
Thomas brings decades of business and technology expertise and as a successful entrepreneur. Most recently he founded Bharosa, a global security platform provider, until acquired by Oracle in 2007.  Thomas serves on several corporate boards, and is very active as a clean-tech investor and start-up mentor, sharing his proven ability to drive successful business strategies and business models in rapidly emerging markets.

 

 

David "Lad" Wallace, Advisor
Lad has an extensive history of working as a senior financial manager (from controller to CFO) in a number of industries including solar integration at Akeena Solar, Inc (AKNS), micro-electronics manufacturing, winery, liquor and soft drink production, bottling and distribution, oil refining, sporting goods and clothing manufacturing. As CFO of Akeena, from early stage start-up through NASDAQ listing in September of 2007, Lad helped the company grow to become the first publicly traded residential and small commercial integrator in the United States. He has served as CFO for The LED Company, a startup that offers advanced lighting solutions and financing, is the advising CFO for Maximized Solar, a startup with patent-pending technology to automate the maintenance of solar arrays, and consults with other companies in the PV equipment and installations.
